Chris Barry QC


Christopher Barry QC was born in Sydney in 1952. After graduating with a degree of Bachelor of Arts from University of New England in 1975 he completed a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Sydney in 1977 by completing his Arts Degree as an external student at the same time as completing a full time Law Degree.

He was admitted as a Barrister but left the bar to accept the offer of a Rotary Foundation Post Graduate Fellowship at the University of Bristol where he completed a Master of Laws Degree.

He returned to practise at the NSW Bar in 1980 and was appointed Queens Counsel twelve years later at the age of 40.


Christopher Barry QC is the youngest NSW Queens Counsel having been appointed to that rank at the age of 40. He has practised in all jurisdictions but has a special interest in large and complex cases, commissions of inquiry and appeals.


Having completed certification as a mediator under the system of National Accreditation Christopher Barry QC was accredited as a Court Appointed Mediator. He has been involved in several dozen mediations involving a range of disputes.
